Our History
Pastor Nick Heyward, the son of Nathaniel and Wanonia Heyward, was born in Beaufort, SC and was raised in Early Branch. As the years passed and Heyward’s professional career took him all over the world, he finally accepted his call for the ministry on May 09, 2017 at the age of 37. At this point faith became real for him, “when he came to himself”, like the Prodigal Son, to find love, joy, and acceptance in the arms of Christ.
Pastor Nick Heyward comes from a family of prayer warriors and they are rich in their faith. He is the grandson of the Late Deacon Isaac and Lillie Heyward and the late Roger and Queen Esther Thompson. His grandparents kept him in church and always instilled the importance of prayer in his life.
Pastor Nick Heyward is a graduate of The University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. Throughout his academic career HE has held many positions in leadership. While attending University of South Carolina he was Vice President of the Student Government Association. Pastor Nick Heyward demonstrated a passion for helping others, and used his various roles to help solve the problems of others and stay active in the community. This foundation in leadership lead to a 19 year career in hotel management.
Having gone from leadership in hotels to leadership in the church Pastor Heyward became the Director of Membership while in Houston, TX. In 2021 Nick Heyward received his Ministerial License after returning back to South Carolina. From this point forward HE was focused and plowing full speed ahead with kingdom business.
By faith Nick Heyward leads Cornerstone Fellowship with the community in mind. Preaching a message of redemption to promote a balanced scorecard, and inspire all to understand and accept that Cornerstone Fellowship is a hospital for hurt people and not a monument to the saints. Cornerstone Fellowship is the place where all are welcome.
